I did some more research and this is my Great Aunt Emma Muriel Dobbie aka Emma Virginia Luxmoore Dobbie. Per census they were married 4 years so abt 1906. Looking for Primary Source. This also explains why I couldn't find her in Chicago where I thought she was living in 1910.
Not confident that this is 'my' Charles & Emma Brown on the 1910 census. Marriage cert that I have is from 1916 and states that Emma lived in Chicago and Charles in Deadwood. On the 1920 census Charles is shown as from Canada immigrating in 1898. Same census say Emma immigrated from Canada in 1905. She is on the Ontario Census in 1901. Emma had a brother in Chicago so it makes sense that she may have lived there. I have not yet found her on the 1910 census as Emma Dobbie, though I did find a Dobbie with no 1st name on the 1910 Chicago in the same area as her brother but there is a lof of missing info so I will never know who this Dobbie is.
An update, I have been able to confirm that this is my Grandmother's sister Emma Muriel Dobbie aka Emma Virginia Luxmoore Dobbie, who married Earl Slawter. I have her confirmed DOD as Sep 3, 1944 in Deadwood, South Dakota and her burial in Mt Moriah Cemetery adjacent to her 1st husband Charles Brown This info is from her Obit.
I am still looking for an obit on Charles Brown wh died May 29, 1928. Does anyone have access to the local library???
Looking for info on Emma Dobie b in England abt 1878 who married a Charles W Brown in 1916 at Fourche, SD and they lived in Deadwood. Charles died between 1920-30 census possibly on May 29, 1928 per SD Death Records. He was a barber and lived on Main St in 1920. Looking for Obit or cemetery info. On the 1930 census Emma is a widow with her own home with occupation as Laudress. It appears that they had no children.
Emma may have remarried Sep 11, 1933 to Earl Slawter of Deadwood. Any info appreciated.
This is possibly my Grandmother's sister, Emma who was born in England and came to Ontario, Canada as Home Child in 1887 and raised by a Mary Jane Feagan in Auburn, Ontario.
