Early History of Ownership and Management Grand Central Hotel

The Grand Central Hotel is sold in July 1878 and portions of it turned into retail space. For a short period of time, the hotel will be run under various management till the time of the big Fire September 1879. Major Fanton, one of the original lessors, will take the Grand Central back converting it into a 70 bed furnished lodging house. The lodging house will operate until 1892 when the building is raised to make room for new development.
