I just found out further info on Mr. Forbes. He appears in an 1887 photo by Grabill #301 which is a photo of the last round-up in S.D. it's a group of cowboys camped. I found another Grabill photo of his brother in law, a man named Davis sitting on a freight wagon. Neither appears in the town register.
All I have is a newspaper clipping from his death in 1947 and a stack of old photos taken by Deadwood studios. According to the obit. he arrived in Deadwood in 1877 and ran a freight service between Deadwood and Omaha. He established a ranch near Elm Springs in 1881 and eventually moved to Sturgis and became mayor. I would appreciate any info about him or his brother Jim that you may have.
