Thanks for the response.   I am overwhelmed at the moment and very thankful for your information.  Most of what I have read so far is correct as far as I know and you have added some more useful information I will follow up on.

Here is a story from my dad (Pete's grandson, William O. Edholm) when he visited Deadwood ... Sure I remember him, the old timer told William O. Edholm Jr.  And he offered to take Dad into the local saloon for a drink.  A straight shot, he ordered, and you?   As Dad say, If he drinks straight shots, Ill drink straight shots.   Hey guys, this is the grandson of Pete the Cop.   Peter Lawrence Edholm was Chief of Police in Deadwood (1902), South Dakota in the days of Poker Annie and Calamity Jane"
