Madame Hattie Bell - sad times for some of her girls

No new development in case of Italian harp player who ran away with the Chilson girl, other than he took $225 of Hattie Bell's money to purchase clothes, "blow in" at the saloons, met the girl of 15 and pretended to marry her, and hit the trail.

J.B. Clark, alias Bucksin Bill, the man who died at Sturgis City, due mention of which was made in the Times, was buried in Potter's Field, yesterday, by Coroner Smith. This man will be remembered as the party who assaulted Mrs. Lindenbower, was indicted by the grand jury, plead guilty, and served out his sentence, sixty days in the county jail, and a few days after his discharge again assaulted her, for which he received at the hands of unknown parties a wholesome castigation. He drifted off to Sturgis, where he was, as when here, a drunken, worthless nuisance, and not a soul who ever knew or heard of him felt any regret at his untimely taking off, and not a person outside of those whose duty it was to bury paupers, went near him or attended his funeral. His life was a miserable failure.

Thank you for the work you have done. I have found some Lindenbower ancestors noted in the Deadwood blog. I would appreciate any further information you may have on the Double Suicide in the Bad Lands, regarding Julia Laundy and Etta Lindenbower, March of 1888. I am curious as to what happened to W J Lindenbower also. Many thanks, Judy
