I believe you can register for a free ancestry.com account that will allow you to post and search on the ancestry.com boards.
Go to the link below and set up an account by registering. You will not have access to all the ancestry.com paid for documents. Some of their documents are free. I do not believe there is any credit card information required to do this.
After you have a registered account you can then go to the links that I gave to earlier and to the post on that particular board and leave Shelley Irvine a message. Your post will be sent to her ancestry.com mailbox. I believe she has not logged into her ancestry.com account for about 6 months. This is not unusual.
I reviewed your image by the Grabill Photograph and View Company. This studio did not use this specific title on it's prints until the years of 1891 - 1892. Grabill was closing his business as his wife had been murdered back east.

Great info, thanks! Been unable figure out how to get in touch with Shelley Irvine - Ancestry.com won't let me send a message to her. Whether her account is no longer active or because I'm not a paid member I'm not sure. My email(s) are listed in my original post. If she sees this I hope she gets in touch.

Am looking for info on Matilda Bajari. Was born in Tervola Finland October 8, 1861, but raised in Norway. Do not know her parents' names -- only know her father's first wife died. WIth his first wife they had 15 children, and all but 3 or 4 died in infancy. With his second wife there were 12 children and all but 3 died in infancy.
Matilda and her stepmother came to America when Matilda was 14, so about 1875. They settled in Calumet, Michigan."
I don't know how your reply escaped me, but it did. I only found it this evening when a general search of the Bajari name on google led me back to Ancestry.com. I would really like any information you could share that could connect to my Matilda Bajari.
As I said in my original post, I don't know her parents' names. I don't even know how long she supposedly lived in Norway, why her family left Finland for Norway, and if she ever returned to Finland before going to America. I only know that she came to Calumet, Michigan and eventually married Simon Hellman. They had one daughter, Ida Sophia, who was born in Lead South Dakota (b 1882).
Looking for any information on Simon Hellman, born in Petavola Finland in 1851. After serving 10 years in (Finnish?) navy, came to America. Settled in Calumet,Michigan. While there, met Matilda Bajari (sometime after 1875). Thereafter, Simon moved to Black Hills, SD to work in Homestake Mine during goldrush (before 1882). About 1884 homesteaded just west of Bear Butte, SD.
Any help or possible leads would be appreciated!.

We would very much like to see your family photo from Grabill as I would like to see what furniture and backdrop was used in the studio at the time the photograph was taken.
If you have already uploaded your photo somewhere on the web, you may select the tree icon located in this forums task bar when you are replying to this message and it will ask you to insert the html addy for this photograph.
I am doing genealogy work and have come across a photo of a couple made by the Grabill Portrait and View Co. in Deadwood. I am wondering if there is a Hellman / Hillman family in the area. My ancestors came to the U.S. from Finland in the mid 1800's. There is a record of three siblings: Simon, Saccarius (Zacharius), and Hannah in Michigan. Simon stayed here, but I've lost trace of the other siblings. The surname was Hellman when they came from Finland, however it was changed to Hillman by the Michigan branch of the family. I'm not sure of the others. I can't see how I can attach a copy of the photo here, but if you have an interest in seeing it I would be happy to email you a copy.
