RE: Alanson Clough Watts, died 1886 in Homestake mine-

I am glad we were able to locate the specific article that spoke of the death of Alanson Clough Watts. In this article, the historical newspaper collection has indexed his last name as just "Watt", leaving off the "s" in his last name. This may be as it was published in the newspaper at the time.

If you contact Deadwood Public Library, and provide them with the list of the historical newspaper articles that we have found, they may for a small fee reproduce the entire newspaper article as it was printed in the paper which will provide much more information for you.

The public library, as well as the Adams Museum and the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center, has many historical photographs of Deadwood and Central City. They might by an off chance have a photograph of the Watts residence he built in Central and photographs of the Rattler Mine. It would be something more you might whish to investigate.

Glad we could help.
