He resided for twenty years in Denver, Colo., but now lives at Binghamton, N. Y. Child: 3982 Edna, born March 10, 1869: married Dr. Lynn A. Martin and lives at Binghamton, N. Y.
50th Wedding Anniversary: 2 Jun 1912 - New York, New York, 50th Wedding Anniversary. Married Fifty Years. Mr. and Mrs. Loyal S. Nye Will Celebrate Their Anniversary Today. Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Stoyel Nye of Binghamton, N. Y., will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary this afternoon from 4 to 6 at the Hotel Webster, 40 West Forty-fifth Stree, where they have been guests for the last ten years during the Winter months.
Mr Nye is 77 years old and his wife 68. They have one daughter, Mrs. Edna Nye Martin, who makes her home with her parents. They were married in 1862 in Afton, N. Y. and the next year started for the West. It took them twenty-four days to travel in a prairie schooner from Omaha, Neb., to Denver, Col., where they became one of the pioneers. Mr. Nye was head of the Nye Forwarding Company, and also the Stage Mail and Express Company in Wyoming and Colorado, and for a time he had twenty prairie schooners which carried the freight West from the railroad terminals. About twenty years ago he and his wife returned to Binghamton.
One hundred guests are expected at the reception today and Miss Maude Honeyman of Paris, a pianist, will play. Tea is to be served at 5 o'clock.
Obituary Loyal S. Nye, Western Pioneer Binghamton, N. Y., Jan. 12. - Loyal S. Nye, 77 years old, is dead at his home in this city. Mr. Nye was prominent as a promoter, and was one of the pioneers who opened Deadwood, S. D., in 1862. Mr. Nye, with his wife, went West, spending twenty-four days traveling from Omaha to Denver in a "prairie schooner." He became the head of the Nye Forwarding Transportation Company of Denver, the first transportation company in the Far West. Later he became a mining expert, and was one of the pioneers who opened up Deadwood. Twenty years ago he returned East, carrying on the business of a promoter, with headquarters in New York and a summer residence in Binghamton.
